Neon
The “frame” was made using neon that read “I am made of X”. Even though X is one of my nicknames I used it to indicate a fill in blank space. What am I made of? Flesh and bone, yes but there more to it than that. Who am I? I am no longer a student or a kid, where am I going? Through writing about my life including my aspirations, opinions, memories relationships, likes and dislikes etc. I explored what it meant to be me and what it will mean.

The series Another Day in Paradise: An Investigation of Wal-Mart is about the Wal-Mart Corporation and its impact on the global economy and society, specifically 3rd world countries like Bangladesh. On many occasions, Bangladesh fabric factories have failed from collapse or fire. These factories were owned by manufacturers who sold goods to major western retailers like Wal-Mart. The piece Wal-Mart’s Basic Beliefs: Respect for the Individual has an image of a grieving woman in the aftermath of the 2013 Savar Factory Collapse along with a neon sign of the bottom half of the Spark logo. Wal-Mart’s company logo, the Spark, is a representation of Wal-Mart ideals such as Respect for the Individual and Easy Shopping. The failure to uphold their ideal Respect for the Individual is shown through contrasting the logo (belief) with the devastating image (reality).
