About Me

BIOGRAPHY

Xtina Loizeaux Stillwaggon is a multimedia artist and educator based in Crested Butte, Colorado. She uses a variety of art mediums to create a relationship between one material or object and another. In her work Wal-Mart’s Basic Beliefs: Respect for the Individual she used a neon sign (Wal-Mart’s company logo) on top of a cyanotype photograph of a woman in the aftermath 2013 Savar Fabric Factory Collapse in Bangladesh. The failure to uphold their ideal Respect for the Individual is shown through contrasting the logo (belief) with the devastating image (reality).
During her time at as an undergraduate student at Alfred University she was in two group exhibitions in 2013; Biennial Neon and Light Exhibition at Madison, Wisconsin and Post Present Collaborative Show at Hornell, New York.  After graduating, Christina showed her various works at The Seligmann Center(Sugar Loaf, NY), The Art Association of Jackson Hole (Jackson Hole, WY), the Hamilton Arts Center (Hamilton, NY) and the Art Studio of the Center for the Arts (Crested Butte, CO).
As an undergraduate student at Alfred University (Alfred, New York), she discovered her passion for educating when she was a teacher’s assistant for neon and glass classes. She continued to develop her teaching skills at the internationally renowned art facilities such as the Studio of the Corning Museum (Corning, NY) in 2014 and Penland School of Crafts (Bakersville, NC) in 2015. As a current instructor for the Center for the Arts, she teaches stained glass, etching and traditional glass painting.
